By mid-afternoon, the upstream winds often pick up. It tends to be blustery in the spring and we encountered many days of strong winds — rowing into a 30 mph headwind is no fun. My wind gauge registered a 35 mph gust and we know there were stronger blasts. On some days, the humidity was a mere 2% and we weren't even there during the hot season!
